As the Reporting and Metrics Systems Engineer IV for the IT Service Management team, you will support the design, construction, implementation and rollout of analytic and reporting solutions to drive exemplary service. To be successful in this role, you should be passionate about working with large and disparate datasets and be someone who enjoys transforming data into actionable insights and taking a data-driven approach to solving complex business problems. As we work to improve the delivery of standard ITIL processes and better-defined services between various departments within Premera, we will look to meaningful metrics to identify gaps and change behavior.

You will play an integral role in both tactical and strategic decision-making and have a solid understanding of efficient and scalable data mining and an ability to use the data in financial and statistical modeling. You will be adept at finding the story in the data and be able to effectively tell that story to executives through visualizations and presentations. You will be expected to understand customer need and business targets and help translate objectives into meaningful KPI’s (Key Performance Indicators) and CSF’s (Critical Success Factors).

What you’ll do

  • Design and implement analytic and reporting requirements to support strategic initiatives and provide actionable information to assist Premera divisions in meeting service objectives

  • Provide specialized expertise in generating reports and providing metrics to support process and service improvement at Premera

  • Provide data and reports that can be used to identify issues and opportunities to drive behavior

  • Validate and provide methods for streamlining and automating internal and vendor reports

  • Partner with service and process owners to agree to meaningful metrics

  • Create work products that monitor, analyze and report care delivery, operational productivity, and financial information to a broad constituency of internal and external stakeholders

  • Assure validity of analytic work product design and accuracy of reported results using own knowledge, and by instituting and assuring use of peer review processes.

  • Communicate complex concepts, processes, analytical findings and conclusions to a wide range of technical and non-technical audiences at all levels of the organization effectively

  • Deliver business analytics, understand the key drivers of performance and key data sources across the enterprise

  • Lead complex projects related to a wide variety of business needs using AGILE methods

  • Test and evaluate new analytic and reporting toolsets to increase the value of analytic deliverables to customers and increase the productivity of analytic teams

  • Coordinate work with other Premera analytic teams as necessary to retrieve data to support analyses

What you’ll bring

  • Bachelor’s degree in computer science, business, information systems or related experience

  • 7 years of experience in business analytics, business intelligence and analytical reporting in the health care industry

  • Advanced analytical and quantitative skills; knowledge of SQL and advanced Excel skills necessary to develop hard data and metrics to back up assumptions, make recommendations, and drive actions

  • Understands Data Management & BI concepts, Data Analysis, Analytics, Cubes, Reporting Technologies, ETL

  • Experience in data visualization and reporting, preferably in Tableau

  • T-SQL experience preferred

  • Strong knowledge on Excel – Pivots, PowerPivots, Charts

  • Strong data analytical skills - able to make business conclusions from data, create stories and connect scenarios

  • Ability to deal with ambiguity and work in agile environment

  • Excellent communications skills

  • Strong troubleshooting skills

  • Attention to detail
